Q&A with Karen Michelle Nutt

Q.Tell the readers a little about yourself
A. I’m a lover of cinnamon lattes, great books, old movies, and listening to records. (Yes, I do mean records.) My favorites are: The Clash, INXS, Journey, Kansas, Big Country, A-ha, Men at Work, and Duran Duran–just to name a few. I was born and raised California, and still live here today, though I do love to travel.

unnamedQ. Where did the idea for this book come from?
A. My daughter and I watched INXS live at Wembley on TV. We were sad to think the lead singer, Michael Hutchence, had died so tragically and there would never be another song written by him. The time travel tale about Bellamy Lovel took root, but I wanted a happier ending for my rock star and sent Evie back in time to try and save him.

Q. What draws you to this genre?
A. No one knows for sure if time travel is possible, but authors have sent their heroes and heroines to the past and to the future with one stroke of a pen. The idea of time travel has always intrigued me with the question of “what if?” The possibilities are endless.

Blurb for Two Worlds Collided: (Time Travel, Rock Star – rating: 17+ years and older)

Evie Reid on a whim agrees to travel back in time to change bad boy Bellamy Lovel’s path of destruction. She’s smart with a college degree, but she is still fan-girl crazy for the rock band, Civilized Heathens. Evie knows despite all Bellamy’s smiles and enthusiasm on the stage, he’s destined to end it all on one lonely night in a hotel room unless she can change his path.

Bellamy isn’t keen on having Evie as his personal assistant, hired by his band mates to watch over him, and keep him on schedule. However, there is something about the woman that sparks his interest, despite his best to ignore her. When darkness threatens to consume him, he realizes she may be the only light that will chase the shadows away.

  1. I love old movies, too! First concert? It was Vince Gill when I was about 12, I think. I just remember it was awesome. LOL. I adore all of his songs and his Christmas one “Let There Be Peace on Earth” is one of my favorites!

  2. My first concert was James Taylor and Carol King. We had to wait two hours for a piano tuner to arrive and do his thing. My favorite songs by them were, of coarse, Sweet Baby James and Natural Woman. I guess that really dates me.
